The Beginning
In December 2007, Sam bought a condemned and boarded house in Northeast Minneapolis. The house was built in 1901 and was in need of some serious love. Nothing was salvageable, not even the walls. Renovations took over a year before he could even get an occupancy permit. He moved in in February 2009, and I in April 2010.
The transformation has been pretty amazing.
Sam definitely gets credit for most of the renovation. I helped with some of the work and design, as did friends and hired professionals, but Sam did the majority. His talent, vision, and ambition are incredible. The ongoing projects have been more equally shared between the two of us. It’s work, but also a lot of fun since we’re creating our home.
Over the next several posts I’ll share some before-and-after photos of each room and talk about our what we love, what we don’t, and what we dream.
